Serpentina is the local name given to the footpath, which zig-zags to the summit of Mount Srd, Dubrovnik, Croatia. The 1991 war with Serbia destroyed the 19th-century fort and the cable car station buildings on the summit. The path is used each year by the mothers of those killed in the war. On a pilgrimage they walk barefoot and stop to pray at each of the thirteen crosses situated at the corners along the way.

About sense of place in artist books

I am an artist. I find the ephemeral place in my art conjured up through practice. I sift through raw materials with my hopes and dreams, and ideas take form as if intended.
